Tasting Notes

87-88
Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 18
(70% of this fruit was lost to frost; 20% new oak): Bright medium red. Slightly reduced red fruits on the nose. Very rich, ripe and sweet, with a dark cherry flavor complicated by a gamey nuance. A bit tannic for Bourgogne Noir but appears to have the material to support its backbone. These vines are planted on the plain of Dijon in the village of Daix, at a high altitude of 400 meters.

Bourgogne

Bourgogne AOC represents the entry-level wines of Burgundy, offering a taste of the region's winemaking traditions. These wines, primarily made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, cover a broad area from Chablis to Beaujolais. Red wines are light to medium-bodied with red berry flavours and earthy notes, while the whites are crisp and mineral-driven with green apple and citrus. Accessible and versatile, Bourgogne AOC wines are an excellent introduction to Burgundy. Notable producers include Joseph Drouhin, Louis Jadot, and Bouchard Père et Fils.
